MAKASSAR BECOMES A MODEL FOR DPT RECORDING SYSTEM
Makassar, S Sulawesi, July 17 (ANTARA) - The Makassar office of the General Election Commission (KPUD) was chosen as model for the implementation of the data collection system based on residential identity number (NIK) in South Sulawesi province.
"Makassar will become a pilot project for the implementation of the data collection system based on residential address," chairman of South Sulawesi KPUD, Jayadi Nas said here on Thursday.
The Makassar KPUD has a technical instrument which can support the collecting method and the recording of the Fixed Voters List (DPT) issued based on identity cards, he said.
It was believed that the Makassar KPUD has the working instruments down to village level and also equipped with a monitoring team which can connect to the KPU working system, Jayadi said.
The voters collecting system based on the NIK will be applied in the next period of the general election because a great number of people have yet been recorded in the DPT, he said.
The General Election Commission (KPU) held a presidential election on July 8, 2009 with three presidential candidate pairs taking part, namely Megawati Soekarnoputri-Prabowo Subianto, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Boediono and Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto.
On Thursday (April 9) around 171 million eligible voters cast their votes for the 38 political parties vying for the 560 seats in the House of Representatives (DPR) and six local parties in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD) province trying to get 69 seats at the provincial legislative councils (DPRA) and 645 seats at 23 districts/municipals legislative councils. ***1***
