Iraq, China Discuss Ways To Enhance Bilateral Cooperation In Various Fields

Baghdad / NINA/- Iraq’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Bilateral Relations, Mohammed Hussein Bahr Al-Uloom, discussed with the Chinese Ambassador in Baghdad, Cui Wei, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various fields.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that Bahr Al-Uloom received the Chinese ambassador at the ministry’s headquarters, where both sides emphasized Iraq’s significant role within China’s “Belt and Road” initiative, as well as their shared commitment to advancing partnerships based on the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries in a way that serves the interests of both peoples.
The statement added that the two officials highlighted the importance of convening the second Arab–China Summit, noting that consultations are ongoing to determine a date suitable for all parties and one that ensures the summit achieves its goals in strengthening Arab–Chinese relations.
Bahr Al-Uloom called on the Chinese side to reconsider its travel guidelines for Iraq, with the aim of encouraging Chinese citizens and companies to visit the country and expand areas of cooperation. He stressed that Iraq is witnessing advanced levels of stability—not only in terms of security but also in developmental fields that enhance the investment and economic environment.
For his part, the Chinese ambassador expressed his appreciation for the historic relations between Baghdad and Beijing, affirming China’s commitment to bolstering cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and international organizations in support of regional and global stability./ End
