Saudi Team Wins 8 Medals on Opening Day of Asian Youth Para Games in Dubai

Riyadh, December 11, 2025, SPA -- The Saudi team competing at the Dubai 2025 Asian Youth Para Games (AYPG) won eight medals -- one gold, five silver, and two bronze -- on Wednesday, the event’s opening day.
The 5th edition of AYPG opened at Dubai Club for People of Determination in the presence of Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee Vice President Prince Fahad bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, who heads the Saudi delegation, along with Dubai Sports Council Chairman Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. Asian Paralympic Committee President Majid Rashed and several heads of Asian Paralympic committees were also present.
Saudi swimmers made a strong start, with Hussein Al-Rashed winning gold and bronze, while Ibrahim Al-Marzouki added three more medals. Abdulrahman Asiri added a silver medal in the junior category, further bolstering the team’s strong showing at Hamdan Sports Complex.
In weightlifting, the Saudi team won two silver medals, claimed by Fajr Al-Smry and Talal Al-Balawi. Track and field athletes Al-Baraa Al-Qarni and Motairah Al-Shammari carried the Saudi colors during the opening ceremony, which brought together participants from 35 Asian countries and featured performances highlighting the history of Paralympic sports along with Emirati folkloric displays.
