Bishkek, Dec. 16, 2025 /Kabar/. On December 15, 2025, New York hosted international cultural event at the United Nations Headquarters to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the adoption of UN General Assembly Resolution 49/129, dedicated to the great spiritual heritage of Kyrgyz people, Manas Epic.
The event was attended by Mirbek Mambetaliyev, Minister of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic; Aida Kasymalieva, Permanent Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the UN; Vice-President of the UN General Assembly; representatives of the UNESCO Office in New York; permanent representatives of UN Member States; and international experts.
Adopted in 1994, the resolution became the first international document to officially recognize Manas epicas part of the oral and intangible cultural heritage of humanity at global level.
The event showcased the universal values of the Manas epic, juxtaposed with core principles of the UN and the Sustainable Development Goals. Participants were also informed about Kyrgyzstan's candidacy for membership in the UN Security Council for 2027–2028.
The program included official and cultural sections, thematic panel discussion was held in a hybrid format. Participants were presented with audio-visual materials reflecting the philosophical depth of the Manas epic and its universal values of peace, unity, and justice.
In his speech, Mirbek Mambetaliev invited the international community to participate in the World Nomad Games and the International Forum on Issyk-Kul, which will be held in Kyrgyzstan in 2026.
The event contributed to strengthening Kyrgyzstan's cultural diplomacy and made significant contribution to the promotion of its national spiritual heritage on the international stage.
It should be noted that in 1995, the UN General Assembly supported the celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the Manas epic at the international level, and events were held with the participation of UNESCO.
