SEA Games: Malaysian Bowlers Win Doubles Gold

BANGKOK, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- National keglers Muhammad Rafiq Ismail and Muhammad Syazirol Shamsudin put on an excellent performance to win the 2025 South East Asian (SEA) Games men’s doubles event at Blu-O Rhythm & Bowl, Major Cineplex Ratchayothin on Tuesday.

Muhammad Rafiq recorded a score of 203 while Muhammad Syazirol contributed 266 points for a total of  470 to beat the home team of Lapasdanai Chusaeng and Vilinkom Kledkaew, who recorded a score of 435 (215-220).

Muhammad Rafiq said the gold medal made up for his disappointing elimination in the quarter finals of the men’s individual event on Sunday.

“It can be said that I get to vent my frustrations. There were many criticisms after I lost in the men’s singles, but this time I proved that the gold medal is my true standard,” he told reporters after the final.

The duo intend to add to their gold medal collection when they take part in the men’s team event this Wednesday.

Malaysia also secured a bronze medal in the men’s doubles thanks to Tun Ameerul Luqman Al Hakim Tun Hasnul Azam and Tsen Fan Yew, who shared the medal with the Singapore pair who beat them in the semifinals.
