Thailand, Cambodia Nearing Border Deal

CHANTHABURI, Dec 26 (TNA) - Cambodia has submitted a sixth draft proposal to Thailand following intensive border security negotiations, moving the two nations closer to a formal agreement expected as early as Saturday.
The progress follows three days of negotiations between the General Border Committee (GBC) secretariats. General Nattapong Pao-kaew, head of the Thai GBC secretariat, said the latest draft arrived Friday afternoon after Thailand raised objections to previous terms.
The proposal will now undergo an emergency review by the National Security Council and a special cabinet meeting chaired by the Prime Minister.
If approved, the defense ministers of both countries are scheduled to meet at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow for a potential signing ceremony following the final review of the draft.
