80 PCT OF CAMPAIGN TEAMS YET TO REPORT SPENT FUNDS
Padang, W Sumatra, July 19 (ANTARA) - Around 80 percent of the presidential election campaign teams in West Sumatra, have yet to report the funds they had used to the general election commission (KPU) in 19 districts/towns in the province.
The legal affairs coordinator of the provincial KPU office, Ardiyan said here on Sunday, only 20 percent of the campaign teams had reported the funds to the provincial KPU office.
The commission official disclosed the matter after an open plenary meeting on the vote count recapitulation of the presidential/vice presidential race at a provincial level.
"We have asked the district level KPU to urge the campaign teams to make an immediate report on the spent funds before the deadline on July 22, 2009," he said, adding that an auditing agency will start checking the campaign funds spent from July 26 through August 26, 2009.
Although there is no real sanction to the campaign teams who failed to report the funds, it will however affect their credibility, he stressed.
According to Ardiyan, the campaign teams which had reported the use of the funds to the provincial KPU office were from the districts of Pariaman, Padang Panjang, Solok and Sijunjung.
In the Limapuluh Kota district only the Jusuf Kalla/Wiranto (JK-Win) presidential/vice presidential campaign team which had reported the use of the funds to the local KPU office.
In Padang, the West Sumatra provincial capital, the campaign teams that had reported the funds were the SBY-Boediono and JK-Win teams, he said.
Meanwhile in Bukittinggi, only the JK-Win team that had reported the spent funds, Ardiyan said, explaining that in Sawahlunto district the Mega-Prabowo and JK-Win campaign teams had submitted reports on the use of the campaign funds to the KPU office.
