CHINESE TOURISTS FLYING GARUDA NOT DETERRED BY JAKARTA HOTEL BOMBINGS

Beijing, July 22 (ANTARA) - No Chinese tourist flying Garuda on the Beijing-Jakarta route has cancelled or postpone their travel to various regions in Indonesia in the wake of the recent bomb attacks on two five-star hotels in Jakarta.

General Manager of Garuda Indonesia for Beijing Sentot Mujiono said on Wednesday that actually the twin bomb attacks had some effect on the interest of Chinese tourists to come to Indonesia.

"Right now I am accompanying some 160 Chinese tourists to Bali, and it appeared that the terrorist attack in Jakarta did not deter the Chinese tourists too much to visit other tourist objects and destinations in the country," Sentot said.

Some 120 of the 160 Chinese tourists he said were participants of the "Garuda China Mainland Tournament", some kind of golf tournament on July 21 and 22 in a leading golf course in Bali.

The tournament, he said, was also a Garuda effort to increase the number of Chinese tourists to Indonesia.

Garuda covers the Beijing-Jakarta route on every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and from Jakarta to the Chin
