KPK GRILLS FORMER PLN PRESIDEND DIRECTOR

Jakarta, July 23 (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) questioned former state electricity company PT PLN president director Eddie Widodo here on Thursday.

KPK grilled Widodo in connection with an alleged corruption case on the procurement of information technology equipment with "Customer Management System (CMS) in East Java PLN office.

"The former PLN president director is questioned as a witness in that case," KPK spokesman Johan Budi said, adding that Eddie Widodo arrived at KPK office at 9:20 in the morning but said nothing to the reporters.

At the same time, the KPK will also question two PLN officials in the similar case, namely the company's former planning director Hardiv Harris Situmeang and PLN customer service and commercial director Sunggu Anwar Aritonang.

In that case, the KPK has named PLN director Hariadi Sadono for outside Java, Madura, and Bali as a suspect for his involvement in the case when he was East Java PLN general manager in 2-004-2008 period.

Hariadi Sadono was named as suspect in relation to a corruption case at PT PLN that resulted in Rp80billion in state losses.

The KPK on Wednesday also questioned Home Affairs Minister Mardiyanto in a corruption case related to the procurement of fire trucks for regional administrations a few years ago.

Johan Budi said Mardiyanto was questioned in his capacity as former Central Java governor.

He said the KPK investigating team grilled the former Central Java governor as a witness in the alleged corruption case because the commission tried to obtain information from the minister to complete the dossier of Oentarto Sindung Mawardi, former director general of regional autonomy at the Home Affairs Ministry who had been named a suspect in case.

Johan Budi said the KPK also investigate Hadi Purnomo in his capacity as Central Java regional secretary, and Warsono, Central Java people's welfare office chief.

The KPK has also investigated Tanggamus district head Bambang Kurniawan, former Tanggamus district head Fauzan Sa'i, and Riau Islands Governor Ismeth Abdullah in the same corruption case.***
