YUDHOYONO SUCCESS TEAM MEMBERS EAGER TO BECOME MINISTERS

Jakarta, July 24 (ANTARA) - Following the presidential election victory of the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Boediono pair, members of their campaign team expressed eagerness to become ministers.

But the chairman of the SBY for President Movement, Alex Asmasoebrata, said here on Friday those who wanted to become minister should introspect and ask themselves whether they were capable or not.

"To those who are not eligible, I would say : don't dream about becoming a minister because you will be disappointed ," Alex Asmasoebrata said.

He said that according to information from the SBY-Boediono campaign team, the criteria to become a member of the next cabinet were among others capability, integrity, intellectuality, experience, loyalty to the president, and dedication to the people's interest.

Asmasoebrata said anyone could have ambition to become a minister but he or she should not be too ambitious lest he or she destroy the pro-SBY coalition's structure that was now well integrated.

"In addition to SBY-Boediono national campaign team members, there are 80 other organizations and institutions which supported the duo," Asmasoebrata said.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party's Human Resources Development chairman Andi Malarangeng said here on Friday that Yudhoyono was seeking a reconciliation with his election rivals, Megawati Soekarnoputri and Jusuf Kalla.

"After the final results of the presidential election are announced by the General Elections Commission (KPU), our priority is to seek a reconciliation with the Megawati and Jusuf Kalla camps. Competition during the election was really strong but after that we need to reunite to build our nation," Malarangeng said here on Friday.

The KPU on Wednesday completed the ballots recapitulation from 33 provinces and said Yudhoyono-Boediono pair had a landslide victory by garnering 73,874,562 votes or 60.80 percent of the total ballots.

According to KPU, Megawati Soekarnoputri-Prabowo Subianto pair grabbed 32,548,105 votes or 26.79 percent while Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto duo trailed behind with 15,081,814 votes or 12.41 percent of the total ballots.

Malarangeng said a reconciliation among the election contestants was needed to overcome various differences and problems that had arisen during the election, and to reunite for the sake of national development during the next five years.
