MK OPENS UP FOR COMPLAINTS AGAINST KPU`S VOTE COUNT

Jakarta, July 25 (ANTARA) - The Constitutional Court (MK) on Saturday (July 25) opened a counter for the registration of complaints from presidential/vice presidential aspirants against the election results officially announced by the General Elections Commission (KPU).

The KPU at a plenary session here Saturday morning announced that the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono - Boediono pair had won 73,874,562 or 60.80 percent of the votes cast in the July 8 presidential election.

The Megawati Soekarnoputri - Prabowo Subianto duo bagged 32,548,105 or 26.79 percent and the Jusuf Kalla - Wiranto ticket 15,081,814 or 12.41 percent of the votes.

The plenary session was only attended by the SBY-Boediono and the JK-Win pairs but not by the Mega-Pro (Megawati - Prabowo) pair who had only sent members of their success team to represent them .

The bureau chief of the MK administration division, Kasianur Sidauruk said that the constitutional court was ready to receive any lawsuit from each of the presidential/vice presidential aspirants within 3x24 hours.

"MK is ready to receive 'objection' (lawsuit)," he said.
Previously, MK Chairman Mahfud MD after casting vote for the presidential poll on Wednesday (July 8) said the candidates had already agreed not to create a dispute in case there were differences in vote counting by their success teams and the General Election Commission (KPU).

Meanwhile, Gayus Lumbuun, representative of the Megawati-Prabowo Subianto pair, rejected the recapitulation report on the results of ballot counting presented by General Elections Commission (KPU) Chairman Abdul Hafiz Anshary.

KPU Chairman Anshary presented copies of KPU's decree no. 265/KPTS/KPU/2009 to each presidential ticket on the decision of the result of ballot counting of the presidential and vice presidential election which was held last July 8, 2009.

But Gayus Lumbuun, who represented Megawati-Prabowo, refused to accept the decree's duplicate. ***
