SWCC's Projects Cost More Than SR 1 Billion This Year
Riyadh, July 26, SPA -- The Vice Governor of Saline Water Conversion
Corporation (SWCC) for Operation and Maintenance Affairs Eng. Thabit
bin Suwaider Al-Luhaybi has predicted that the costs of
reconstruction projects and maintenance of desalination stations
amount to more than SR 1 billion this year and is estimated to incur
an expenditure of SR1.4 billion next year.
He announced that the Corporation stops the import of any materials
that are locally manufactured for the spare parts of desalination
stations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Al-Luhaybi pointed out that this brave step, which is the
first of its kind at local and regional levels, comes within the
objectives of the Corporation aiming to support the national economy,
encourage local manufacturers and to achieve its vision that its
desalination stations should be of Saudi industry.
He hoped that a governmental umbrella will be created for sponsoring
manufacturing and manufacturers, calling on the Shoura (Consultative)
Council to activate local industry and to support it by studies and
recommendations.
