JK-WIN CAMP REPORTS ELECTION IRREGULARITIES TO COURT

Jakarta, July 27 (ANTARA) - A lawyers' team representing the Jusuf Kalla-Wiranto (JK-Win) presidential election ticket has formally reported 55 irregularities that allegedly happened in the July 8 poll to the Constitutional Court (MK).

"We have brought with us proof of 55 irregularities," a member of the lawyers' team, Andi M Asrul, told reporters at the MK building here Monday.

Most of the cases reported to the court were flaws in fixed voter's lists (DPTs) that had occurred almost on a general scale in many regions in the country, he said.

Andi said his team was sure the MK would justify the complaints because in similar cases that had arisen in the April 9, 2009 legislative elections, the court eventually had ruled the holding of repeat polls in a number of regions.

The team that came to the MK building consisted of five lawyers on behalf of Kalla's Golkar Party, five from Wiranto's People's Conscience (Hanura) Party and three independents.

Indra J Piliang, spokesman of the JK-Win's campaign team, who accompanied the lawyers' team, said by presenting the election-related comlaints to the MK, the JK-Win camp was challenging the legitimacy of the presidential election results announced by the General Elections Commission (KPU) on Saturday (July 5) that awarded the poll's victory to the Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono-Boediono pair.***
