Qatar Reaffirms Principle of Peace for Land in the Middle East

New York, July 28, SPA -- Qatar has reaffirmed that the achievement
of a comprehensive peace in the Middle East should be based only on
the principle of land for peace and references including the relevant
UN resolutions and the Arab peace initiative that had been
re-emphasized at the Arab Summit held in Doha last March.

In a speech delivered last night at the UN Security Council in
its open debate on the situation in the Middle East including the
Palestinian cause, Plenipotentiary Minister and Acting Chargé
D’affaires at Qatar's Permanent Delegation to the United Nations in
New York Salem Mubarak Al Shafi said that his country, which believes
that the solution to the Palestinian cause comes through the
existence of two states living in peace side by side, believes that
the Israeli government's attempts to expand settlements undermine the
chances of achieving a two-state solution based on the borders of
1967.
