Palangkaraya, July 29 (ANTARA) - The conditions of three US swine flu suspects from Kansas at the Dr Murjani Sampit General Hospital in East Kotawaringin district, Central Kalimantan, are improving, a local health official said.

"The laboratory test results on the three swine flu suspects from the United States have been sent to the Health Ministry's Research and Development and their conditions are now improving," Central Kalimantan Health Office chief Don FB Leiden said here on Wednesday.

Don Leiden said the official report about the laboratory test result that determine whether they were swine flu positive or negative would be issued in the next few days.

But he added that the patients remained in the isolation room of the hospital.

The three American swine flu suspects arrived at Dr Murjani Sampit General Hospital in East Kotawaringin district, Central Kalimantan, on Sunday night, July 27, 2009.

Ratna Yuniarti, director of Dr Murjani Sampit General Hospital said the American patients arrived from the Sultan Imanudin hospital in Pangkalan Bun, West Kotawaringin district.

She said the three suspects, identified by their initials as D, A and M were voluntary workers at the Tanjung Puting National Park (TNTP) in West Kotawaringin district.

Before arriving in Indonesia, the three US nationals spent a few hours in South Korea whereas their own country is one of the world's H1N1 virus endemic areas.

"Dr Murjani Sampit General Hospital's task is only to treat them while samples of their body fluids will be sent to the Health Ministry's laboratory in Jakarta for confirmation of their infection," she said.

Dr Murjani Sampit General Hospital was ready to treat the swine flu patient suspects after making preparations, Ratna Yuniarti said, explaining that the hospital was one of the health service centers which treat H1N1 flu suspects along with Dr Doris Sylvanus Palangka Raya hospital.

The US citizens were the first swine flu suspects the Murjani Sampit General Hospital had received so far, Yuniarti added.
