KRAKATAU FESTIVAL XIX A SUCCESS

Bandarlampung, Indonesia, July 29 (ANTARA) - Lampung Governor Sjachroedin ZP closed the 19th Krakatau Festival (FK XIX) of 2009 in Bandarlampung, hoping the event would prompt a revival of Lampung province to get in line with the progress achieved by the other provinces.

"The Krakatau Festival could be said as a success, as it has proven that the province is secured and safe in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Jakarta. The ambassadors of the United States and some European countries had even also visited FK XIX in Lampung," Lampung Governor Sjachroedin ZP said here Wednesday night.

The conclusion of FK XIX, concurrently with the closing of Lampung Expo VIII, were attended by Banten Governor Rt Hj Atut Chosiyah, and members of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives.

"The relevant authorities need to evaluate the events, and the organizing committees and all the relevant government agencies need to study comprehensively the aims of Krakatau Festival," he said.

Sjachroedin said FK XIX is an important milestone in holding important art and tourism festivals in Lampung province.

"Krakatau Festival was the culmination of all festivals held at regency level, and this needs to be maintained, so that Lampung would never be without arts, cultural and tourist events the whole year round," he said.

The visits of several foreign diplomats also had their results, which included a plan of Brunei Darussalam to make an investment in the country.
