Prince Saud, Hillary Clinton hold Meeting and Press Conference 4 Washington

On her part, the U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton said that
she held with Prince Saud Al-Faisal, an open and effective dialogue
on bilateral, regional and international issues particularly the
achievement of a comprehensive peace in the Middle East, confronting
violence and promoting economic recovery.

She thanked Saudi Arabia for supporting the peace process in the
region, saying, "The widespread support for the Arab peace initiative
put forward by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah
bin Abdulaziz Al Saud which has been endorsed by the Arab Summit in
Beirut, is very encouraging. We need Palestinians and Israelis to
live in peace and security in two states side by side."

The United States has been continually working to stop Israeli
settlements and ease restrictions on Palestinians, Clinton added.

She emphasized the leading role of Saudi Arabia in the peace
process, saying, "The leadership of Saudi Arabia is very important in
achieving a lasting peace."
