TAX REVENUE IN 2010 DRAFT BUDGET 12.1 PCT OF GDP

Jakarta, Aug 3 (ANTARA) - The tax ratio against the gross domestic product (GDP) in the 2010 draft state budget reached 12.1 percent, which is slightly higher than the tax ratio of 12 percent in 2009, a minister said.

"The tax ratio in the 2010 draft state budget is 12.1 percent of the gross domestic product," Acting Chief Economic Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said here on Monday.

She made the remarks when explaining the government's 2010 draft state budget and financial note delivered by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono before an extraordinary plenary session of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Monday.

The minister said that in nominal value tax revenues in 2010 increased 11.8 percent from that in 2009. Non oil and gas tax revenues increased by 14.4 percent.

She said that the government set the tax revenues in the 2010 state budget at Rp729.2 trillion while in 2009 it was set at Rp725.8 trillion.
Sri Mulyani said that the lower tax ratio in the 2010 state budget compared with that in the 2009 budget was due to the rapid growth in the real term of GDP and the many sectors which were not taxed.

The government predicted that the nominal value of the GDP 2009 would reach Rp5,400 trillion, in 2010 Rp5,953 trillion and in 2011 Rp6,638 trillion.

She said that the government in the 2010 draft state budget set Rp729.2 trillion in tax revenues and Rp180.9 trillion in non-tax state revenues (PNBP).

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in his state-of-the-nation address before the parliament on Monday said state expenditures were projected to reach Rp1,009.5 trillion, in the 2010 Draft State Budget or Rp3.8 trillion more than in the Revised 2009 Draft State Budget 2009 (RAPBN-P).

In addition, the president said that the planned state revenue and expected grants will reach Rp911.5 trillion in 2010, tax revenue is envisaged to reach Rp729.2 trillion, whereas non-tax revenue (PNBP) is estimated to total Rp180.9 trillion.***
