PRESIDENT WANTS ACEH'S PEACE, SECURITY PRESERVED
Banda Aceh, Aug 5 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono appealed to all parties Tuesday to preserve security and peace in Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam to lay a strong foundation in the development of the province.
"Aceh is now secure and peaceful. Don't miss the chance to develop Aceh in pursuit of a better future," he said when opening the 5th Aceh Cultural Week at H Dimurthala Lampineung Stadium here.
The Acehnese people had three main pillars, not to mention the other advantages which might enable the province to make progress and put itself on a par with the rest of the country, he said.
"Aceh has three pillars, not to mention the other advantages, namely religious life, noble culture and much-respected customs of its people," he said.
The three pillars had formed the identity and noble civilization of the Acehnese people, he said.
"When we were to reconstruct Aceh in the aftermath of a tsunami the strategies and policies we adopted were to develop Aceh into a modern and advanced region once the rehabilitation was completed, without having to abandon their identity, culture and civilization," he said.
The president accompanied by his wife Ani Yudhoyono later visited the Aceh International Expo at the Ratu Shafiatuddin park.***4***
