S. Korea confirms 55 new flu cases


SEOUL, Aug. 7 (Yonhap) --- South Korea's health authorities Friday confirmed an
additional 55 cases of influenza A, raising the total infection tally here to
1,673.
The new patients, including six public servants joining in a field training in
Gangwon Province, tested positive for the H1N1 virus, according to the Ministry
for Health, Welfare and Family Affairs.
Six students were also infected with the disease after returning from a recent
trip to the Philippines, the ministry said.
As of Friday, 319 people remained in isolation at state-designated hospitals or
in their homes for treatment. No deaths have been reported here in connection
with the flu, which has claimed hundreds of lives worldwide since it was first
confirmed in April.
