OIC Chief condemns law to dispose of Palestinian refugees'

Jeddah, August 09, SPA -- The Secretary General of the Organization
of the Islamic Conference (OIC), Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, has
condemned Israeli Knesset's approval of a law that would allow the
sale of Palestinian refugees' properties in 1948 historic Palestine.

He described the measure as being both unlawful and illegitimate.

It is also, he pointed out, a new infringement of international
obligations and legal covenants and an attempt to blur the issue of
Palestinian refugees and dispose of their property.

Ihsanoglu stressed that the Israeli measure calls for the
criminalization of any person or party that would be involved in
selling or purchasing Palestinian refugees' lands.

He also called on the United Nations to dispatch a fact-finding
mission to document the violations and aggressions Israel perpetrates
on the lands belonging to Palestinian refugees of 1948, according to
a press release of the OIC.

The Secretary General underscored the UN's responsibility for
implementing its resolutions on the protection of the rights and
property of Palestinian refugees.
