SECURITY TIGHTENED AT BALI'S GILIMANUK PORT

Gilimanuk, Aug 10 (ANTARA) - Indonesia's anti-terror police, Densus 88, continues to tighten security around Gilimanuk ferry port at the western tip of Bali to anticipate acts of terrorism.

Bali police spokesman Senior Commissioner I Gede Sugianyhar said on Monday that the Indonesian Police Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) force had been deployed at Gilimanuk area to anticipate and prevent the entry of terrorists into the island resort of Bali.

"Densus 88 and some other military personnel are deployed to back up Jembrana police at Gilimanuk port," Sugianyar said.

Meanwhile, Jembrana police chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Ketut Suardana said the security check at Gilimanuk port was conducted on everybody.

"Although we still have limited number of detectors, we will check every passing car and its passengers the same way without regard to their status," Ketut Suardana said.

Therefore, he expressed hope that all layers of people living around Gilimanuk port would participate in helping the police maintain security.

Security around Gilimanuk port has been tightened following the massive police anti-terror operation in which three suspects were killed: two at Jati Asih in Bekasi, West Java, and one in Temanggung, Central Java, on Saturday.
