MINISTER, SAIL BUNAKEN PARTICIPANTS PLANT MANGROVE TREES
Manado, Indonesia, Aug 12 (ANTARA) - Fisheries and Marine Resources Minister Freddy Numberi planted mangrove trees along with Sail Bunaken Yacht Rally participants in Bitung, North Sulawesi, on Wednesday.
"The mangrove tree-planting event drew a positive response from the participants who have come from many countries," he said.
He said the Sail Bunaken participants hailed the event as good for conserving the environment.
"Therefore, they participated in it directly by planting themselves the mangrove trees in Bitung," he said.
He said the movement would be continued as part of the Indonesian nation's committment to preserving the environment.
A number of local officials including Governor Sarundajang and Bitung Mayor Hanny Sondakh took part in the activity.
