REFORMS MUST BE CONTINUED: PRESIDENT
Jakarta, Aug 14 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that the reform movement which started in 1999 was a continuous process so that the reform agenda must be continued with corrections on things that had deviated from the right track of the movement.
"It is not easy to carry out the reform agenda because it often faced obstacles and challenges, but the agenda had to be carried out together so that a better life of the nation would be achieved," the president said in his state-of-the nation address in a plenary session of the House of Representatives (DPR) here on Friday.
In his address in conjunction with the country's independence day anniversary, the head of state said that the implementation of the reform was facing an up-and-down situation and frequent resistance.
He said that even some implemented the reforms exaggeratedly. "But all this is a normal thing in a reform process, in a large scale reform," Yudhoyono said.
The president said that in carrying out the reform agenda what were felt good and correct must be continued. On the other hand, we have to correct improve them if there were things felt not in line with the reform movement or things that could develop worse.
