PRESIDENT : INDONESIA VISION 2025 COMPRISES 10 MAIN GOALS

Jakarta, Aug. 14 (ANTARA) - In 'Indonesia Vision 2025', the country hopes to really move forward towards becoming an advanced country, according to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

"This is our vision for the year 2025, We can share the opinion that, God willing, in 2025, our life as a nation and state will be in a much better shape," he said here on Friday in his address prepared in the runup to the 64th anniversary of Indonesia's Independence.

He said the main goals Indonesia wanted to reach in 2025 consisted of, among other things,: firstly, an increasingly strong Unity and Social Harmony; secondly, national stability must be consolidated further; thirdly, Indonesia must continuously consolidate democracy and transparency; and fourthly, the country must continuously maintain law and order.

"We will persistently enforce law in a consistent and impartial manner. In the future, the position of law as commander must grow stronger and more solid," he said when delivering his address before the House of Representatives' plenary session.

The fifth goal is to continue to maintain and intensify economic growth. The sixth is to continue to enhance the people's welfare.

"We are thankful that the poverty rate has declined from 16.7 percent in 2004 to 14.1 percent in March 2009, while the unemployment rate has dropped from 9.9 percent in 2004 to 8.1 percent in February 2009," he said.

The seventh goal is to continuously improve the management of good governance and corruption eradication. The eighth goal is to secure environmental protection. The ninth goal is to intensify regional development all over the country.

"And tenth, we must continue to foster global partnership and cooperation. International relations and cooperation must be set in the context of mutually beneficial and just principles," he said.
