SBY NOW IN POSITION TO MAKE MANY BREAKTHROUGHS : SPOKESMAN

Jakarta, Aug 14 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will have a bigger political capital to make many breakthroughs in the future, his spokesman Dino Patti Djalal said here on Friday.

"The President will conduct more breakthroughs and act more as he has a capital of 60 percent votes (collected in the presidential race recently). He would certainly use the mandate as his political capital for his administration from 2009 to 2014," he said at the launch of a book on "Positive Energy, Opinions from 100 Figures on Indonesia in the SBY Era" at the Antara News Agency building.

Dino admitted in his administration period of 2004-2009 SBY, as the president is popularly called, had encountered a lot of political constraints because his Democratic Party only secured six percent of the votes in the 2004 legislative election so that he had to make many compromises.

"Right now the political situation has changed. The Democratic Party has become the largest party with 20 percent of the votes so that decisions are in the hands of SBY. The situation in the next five years will be different. SBY will come out with different energy and spirit," he said.

After the political capital was no longer a problem, Dino said, SBY would in the next five years think of working better for the interest of the state and the nation until 2014.

"SBY's concern is only how to contribute the best to the country and nation," he said.

Dino said SBY's quality of leadership had been proven by his ability to maintain the standard of performance of his cabinet for the past five years so that his administration continued to run well despite his occupation with regard to the elections this year.

He said the most important part of his state-of-the-nation address before the parliament on Friday was his statement that Indonesia had no enemies in the world and no country in the world saw the country as an enemy.

"This means we are superior in terms of internationalism which we need to further develop," he said.

The book launching was also attended by Antara president director Ahmad Muchlis Yusuf.
