IDENTIFICATION OF NANA'S BODY COMPLETED

Jakarta, Aug 14 (ANTARA) - The body of the suicide bomber at Ritz-Carlton hotel here on July 17 had been identified as that of Nana Ichwan Maulana, after a team of doctors finished a series of DNA tests on Friday morning.

"The identification process was completed this morning, and it had been scientifically and irreversibly proven," deputy head of the police public relations division Brig Gen Sulistyo Ishak said in Jakarta Friday.

He also said that the identification of Nana's remains took longer than that of the other five bodies, because the process was more complicated.

Nana's father had passed away, which made it necessary to obtain the DNA samples of his mother and three elder siblings.

The DNA samples had been taken from Nana's mother Mrs Jubaidah (65), his three siblings Qomar, Endang Sutisna and Zuhra.

"The identification process took longer because the police had to find the addresses of each of the persons whose DNA samples were sought," he said.

The police will hand over Nana's body to his relatives at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for burial in Pandeglang, Banten.

Nana's mother could not come for his son's body because she was too old for that, and had left the whole process to her children.

With the identification of Nana's body, the police had completed the identification of all the five terrorists' remains.

In the meantime, the body of Dani Dwi Permana, the suicide bomber at JW Marriott hotel had already been handed over to his relatives and buried in Bogor on August 12, 2009.

The body of Ibrahim, who allegedly brought the bombs to JW Marriott dan Ritz-Carlton hotels who was killed in the massive police raid in Temanggung, on August 8, had also been buried in Pondok Rangon, East Jakarta.

The bodies of Air Setiawan and Eko Joko who were killed in a raid in Bekasi on August 8, had been buried side by side in Sragen, Central Java.

Air and Joko had been suspects in possession of bombs in Bekasi, and prepared for suicide bombing by car.
