PRESIDENT BESTOWS CITATIONS ON 42 PROMINENT FIGURES

Jakarta, Aug. 15 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the State Palace here on Saturday bestowed citations on 42 prominent figures for their meritorious services to the nation in various fields.

Among those who received citations presented annually ahead of Independence Day was Hidayat Nur Wahid, chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), and his two deputies, Muhaimin Iskandar and Mooryati Soedibyo.

The Mahaputra Star medals were also given to Taufiequrrachman Ruki, former chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), and four former KPK deputy chairmen, namely Erry Ryana Hardjapamekas, Tumpak Hatorangan Panggabean, Amien Sunaryadi, and Sjachrudin Rasul.

Other recipients included Jimly Asshidiqie, former chairman of the Constitutional Court (MK), and eight former MK justices.
