SEEDED RI RACERS BEING EVALUATED IN ASIA BICYCLE CHAMPIONSHIP

Samarinda, Indonesia, Aug 15 (ANTARA) - A monitoring team from the Seeded Athlete Program or PAL will evaluate several seeded racers during the 2009 Asia bicycle open and track race championship being held here, a spokesman said.

"The evaluation covers many aspects, and it is not only about their achievement in the Asia event, because the target is to prepare them for the Laos 2009 Sea Games," the PAL training director, Paulus Pesurney said here on Saturday.

The evaluation is actually aimed to know the physical and mental development of the racers after undergoing the PAL training program, he said.

Citing example, Pesurney said that Uyun Muzizah (female racer)who had successfully lowered her weight for 10 kg, will be further evaluated wheather or not her lost weight brought a positive impact for her compared with her previous condition.

"That's an example for Uyun. Of course, other racers have different evaluation, depending on the athletes' development and in accordance with our data," he disclosed.

A number of PAL athletes grouped in the country's Asia championship among others Tonton Susanto, Projo Waseso, Samian (male), and the female ones including Uyun Muzizah, Santia Tri Kusumah, and Nurhayati, Pesurney said.

"We can measure our racers' achievement when they compete with other racers with international reputation in the Asia bicycle open and track race championship who they will face in the upcoming Sea Games," he said.
The event that is taking place in East Kalimantan's provincial capital of Samarinda will last until August 19, 2009, and participated in by racers from 23 countries.***
