RF-US coop on transit to Afghanistan to help ensure security - FM.

MOSCOW, August 19 (Itar-Tass) - Russian-U.S. cooperation on transit of military cargoes to Afghanistan will help ensure security and restore the country, Foreign Ministry spokesman Andrei Nesterenko said.

On September 6, the Russian-U.S. agreement on military transit to
Afghanistan via Russia will begin functioning. The diplomat recalled that
the agreement "will come into effect upon completion of inter-state
juridical procedures - the agreement should be ratified by Russia".
According Nesterenko, "We hope that our work will be over as
scheduled. We'll begin implementing the agreement as scheduled and in the
required scope. As for concrete parameters, the United States has not
given any request."
"The text of the agreement will be made public on bilateral agreement
and in compliance with Russia's legislation," the Russian spokesman said.
