Kunta-haji Russian Islamic University to be opened in Grozny.



GROZNY, August 20 (Itar-Tass) - The Kunta-haji Russian Islamic
University (RIU) will be opened in the Chechen republic's capital Grozny
on Thursday.

Taking part in the opening ceremony will be guests from Russian
regions and from abroad. Representatives of the republic's clergy, as well
as students of higher and secondary educational establishments will hold a
religious ceremony - zikr - in the city's central mosque named after Ahmat
Kadyrov. Festivities on the occasion of the university's opening will be
crowned with colourful fireworks.
Rector of the RIU Abdul-Rakhim Mutushev told Itar-Tass that in 2009
the university will admit for education 300 students. "A total of 29
applicants who graduated from Madrassas and preparatory divisions in Arab
countries have been admitted to the university as first-year students.
Young people who have secondary education, but no older than 35 years can
study at the university," Mutushev said.
Students from other cities are also provided an opportunity to study
at the Islamic University. Rooms in hostels will be prepared for them and
for poor students. Among the educational establishment's teaching staff
are specialists that got religious education in Islamic institutes of
Russia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Syria and Malaysia. Among them
there are candidates of sciences, candidate for a doctor's degree in
religious studies. The subjects taught at the university are Islamic
sciences, Quran and the Arabic language, as well as secular sciences.
Special subjects include Islamic law, jurisprudence, commenting Quran and
others.
The term of study at the RIU is five years. After graduation the
students get the specialty "imam-khatyb" - teacher of the Arabic language
and Sharia sciences and the higher professional education diploma.

.Arctic Sea crew taken to Cape Verde awaiting flight to Russia.

PARIS, August 20 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's Navy ship has brought the
crewmembers of the Arctic Sea vessel to the Sal Island that is part of
Cape Verde, Itar-Tass was told by telephone from the Russian embassy to
Cape Verde on Wednesday.
RF Ambassador Alexander Karpushin said earlier on local radio that all
the necessary steps were taken for the transportation of the Arctic Sea
crew from the ship to airport. "It may happen any moment," the diplomat
added.
Representatives of the Cape Verde authorities confirmed that a plane
was waiting for the Russians at the Sal international airport to airlift
them to their home country.
On Tuesday, Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov told the
supreme commander-in-chief, President Dmitry Medvedev that the Ladny
submarine chaser freed the Arctic Sea freighter without a single shot
fired, According to the minister, eight attackers who had seized the ship
were arrested in the operation. "Eight people - not the crewmembers
staying on it - were arrested," Serdyukov said. They are citizens of
Estonia, Latvia and Russia.
"The investigators have found out that a high-speed inflatable boat
with four citizens of Estonia, two citizens of Latvia and two Russians
approached the Arctic Sea vessel in Swedish territorial waters on July 24
at 23:00, Moscow time. They claimed their boat had gone out of order,
boarded the Arctic Sea and demanded from the crew to fully obey all their
orders at gunpoint," said Serdyukov. After that the Arctic Sea proceeded
towards Africa along the route specified by the hijackers. Its navigation
equipment was turned off all the time, he said.
The defense minister briefed the president on the measures taken in
connection with the Arctic Sea's disappearance with Russian crew on board
in accordance with the instructions received earlier. He praised
coordinated actions of the Russian Navy and Air Force in spotting the
freighter and securing its release.

.RUSNANO to get back RUR 85 bln within 3 years.

NOVO-OGAREVO, August 20 (Itar-Tass) - About 85 billion roubles taken
from the authorised capital of RUSNANO (Rosnanotekh) will be returned to
the state corporation within 3 years, Russian Education and Science
Minister who heads the Supervisory Council Andrei Fursenko said on
Wednesday.
"The government will issue a resolution in the short run that will
specify the order of RUSNANO financing, and the schedule of the return of
these funds to the capital of the state corporation will be fixed in it,"
the official said.
Fursenko explained that the point at issue is 85 billion roubles that
have been taken from the state corporation's authorised capital this year.
RUSNANO head Anatoly Chubais said that the compensation of these funds
will be made during three years.
