Four Russians hurt in minibus accident are in intensive care

.

ANKARA, August 23 (Itar-Tass) - Four Russian tourists hurt in a
minibus accident near the Turkish resort town of Antalya last Friday are
in intensive care, the Russian General Consul in Antalya Mirdzhalol
Khusanov told Itar-Tass on Saturday.
According to him, the doctors find it hard to predict the dynamics of
their recovery. One Russian tourist is still in critical condition.
Khusanov said that some Russians had already been discharged from
hospital. A nine-year-old boy who was in the minibus during the accident
has already left Antalya.
"A married couple with two children is staying in hospital. The wife
was badly injured and is in serious condition. Relatives will pick up the
children in Antalya and will take them to Russia," Khusanov went on to say.
Ten Russian tourists from St. Petersburg were hurt in the accident. It
occurred on the 45th kilometer on the Antalya-Manavgat highway near the
village of Serik. The driver of a minibus that was carrying the tourists
collided with a commuter bus that was moving ahead in the same direction.
The local authorities are working to establish the accident's
circumstances.


.Moscow police detain 40 football fans for misbehavior.

MOSCOW, August 23 (Itar-Tass) - Police have detained 40 fans at
football matches held in the Russian capital on Saturday.
Anatoly Lastovetsky, a duty officer of the Moscow interior department,
told Itar-Tass that most fans had been detained for drinking alcohol at
the stadium or for being drunk.
More than 2,000 spectators watched a match between two Russian
football clubs 'Moskva' and 'Saturn' at the Eduard Streltsov stadium,
while 6,500 fans gathered at the Luzhniki stadium to watch the CSKA-
'Khimki' match.
Lastovetsky said that despite the detentions the two football matches
had passed without any serious incidents or mass violations of public
order.
More than 2,000 policemen and interior troops guarded security at both
matches.


.Russia, Ukraine has more common interests than differences.

KIEV, August 23 (Itar-Tass) - Vice-Admiral Alexander Kletskov, the
commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, believes that Russia and Ukraine
have more common interests than differences.
"This is particularly true in the sacred soil of Sevastopol. Sailors
of the Russian Black Sea Fleet take an active part in city construction,
the development of urban infrastructure and cultural sphere. The city
authorities solve many problems that affect the everyday activities of the
fleet and the social and moral climate in the families of Russian
sailors," Kletskov said in a speech delivered in Sevastopol on Saturday in
connection with ther forthcoming Ukraine's Independence Day marked on
August 24.
Kletskov said that the Russian Black Sea Fleet command would try to
develop friendly relations in the hero city of Sevastopol and other places
of the fleet's deployment to lay down the foundation for constructive work
with Ukraine's bodies of state power, the Ukrainian Navy and veteran and
public organizations.
"We are sure that our friendship and business partnership will
continue to strengthen and develop for the sake of peace and prosperity of
our two countries," Kletskov said.
"Ukraine and Russia are by nature friendly states and strategic
partners. Our unity has passed the tests of time and trials," Kletskov
emphasized.

.Medvedev congratulate Russian race walker on victory.

MOSCOW, August 23 (Itar-Tass) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has
congratulated athlete Sergei Kirdyapkin on his victory in a 50-kilometer
walking race at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin, the Kremlin
press service reports.
"In intensive struggle you outdid some big names in a marathon race
and finished first well ahead of your rivals. You showed real courage,
sportsmanship and will to win. Your medal has become yet another proof
that our athletes have no equals in race walking," President Medvedev said
in his telegram.

.Strike of lightning causes crude oil tank fire.

YEKATERINBURG, August 23 (Itar-Tass) - A strike of lightning is
believed to be the main cause of an explosion at a crude oil tank in
Yugra, the Urals regional centre of the Russian Emergencies Ministry told
Itar-Tass.
"The explosion destroyed tank No.7. The fire that followed spread to
tanks 5 and 8. Tanks 1, 2 and 4 are being cooled," the source said.
According to clarified reports, three people have been hurt in the
fire. More than 200,000 square meters are now in flames.
