RF president's Far East envoy to discuss cooperation in S Korea.



SEOUL, August 26 (Itar-Tass) - Projects of economic cooperation
between Russia and South Korea will be discussed in Seoul by Russian
president's plenipotentiary representative in the Far Eastern federal
district Viktor Ishayev. He is arriving in the South Korean capital on
Wednesday evening heading a delegation of more than 20 heads of regions
and businesspeople at the invitation of the South Korean Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The four-day visit programme envisages a meeting with South Korean
President Lee Myung-bak, talks with the foreign minister and finance
minister. The two countries' cooperation projects include the development
of oil fields on the western shelf of Kamchatka, the import by South Korea
of Russian natural gas and the construction of ports and logistic centres.
The visit results "will promote the development of economic
cooperation between the two countries," it is stressed in a press release
of the South Korean Foreign Ministry.

.Combined Emergencies Min teams leaving HPP accident site.

GORNO-ALTAISK, August 26 (Itar-Tass) - Search and rescue operations at
the Sayano-Shushenskaya hydropower plant have been practically completed
and combined teams of units of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry
that arrived in Khakassia after the August 17 accident at the HPP are
leaving the republic. Eleven regional teams of rescuers on Wednesday
depart from Abakan airport, Itar-Tass was told at the press service of the
government of the Republic of Khakassia.
The ministry's personnel will be handed letters of gratitude signed by
chairman of the government of Khakassia Viktor Zimin, as well as
apotropaic bear's claws made of cedar - which is a holy tree for Khakas
people.
Taking part in the liquidation of the emergency aftermath at the
hydroelectric station were staff members of emergency-rescue services and
fire fighting units from all over Russia. In particular, from the Irkutsk
region, Buryatia, Tomsk region and the Altai Territory.
Complex high technology works aimed at the plant's restoration are
beginning at the Sayano-Shusehnskaya HPP on Wednesday, said the Khakassia
head.
About 20 cm of water mixed with machine oil remain on the last floors
of the HPP's turbine room, there are also some piles of not cleared
wreckage. It is possible that the bodies of 4 workers of the HPP that are
still listed as missing remain under the debris. According to latest data,
the death toll of hydropower plant accident is 71.

.Construction of new air terminal complex to start in Vladivostok.

VLADIVOSTOK, August 26 (Itar-Tass) - The construction of a new air
terminal complex is beginning at Vladivostok airport on Wednesday - the
memorial capsule laying ceremony will be held there.
Taking part in the ceremony are expected Russian First Vice Prime
Minister Igor Shuvalov, heads of federal ministries and departments and
Primorsky Territory governor Sergei Darkin.
The project of the new passenger terminal with the roughly estimated
area of 50 thousand square metres and the capacity of 3.5 million
passengers a year is one of the key points of the programme of measures
aimed at the preparation for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)
forum's summit that will be held in Vladivostok in 2012. It is planned to
turn the airport of Vladivostok into a large regional and international
transport hub that will considerably improve the socio-economic
conditions, quality of life in the region and will make it possible to
more fully employ the RF transport potential.
Airport modernisation works are simultaneously underway. It is planned
to extend the runway by 1 kilometre, after which its total length will
reach 3.5 kilometres. In 2011, capital repairs of the second runway will
be started. New parking aprons for wide-body planes and taxi lanes will be
built. A tender was announced several days ago for working out of the
project and design documentation for the construction of a speed highway
that will link the airport and the Russky Island.
According to specialists, the advantageous geographical position of
the Vladivostok airport on the routes of planes from Southeast Asia to
America and Europe will make it possible to practically double the
existing passenger and cargo flows.
