Relations with N Korea discussed in S Korea talks -- RF pres envoy
SEOUL, August 28 (Itar-Tass) -- The issue of relations with North
Korea was raised, and very often, in the talks with South Korean leaders,
Russian presidential envoy to the Far East Federal District Viktor Ishayev
said in an interview with Itar-Tass on Friday.
"They are highly concerned over the issue, and Seoul is very pleased
with the position of Russia, which shares South Korea's position and
supports their actions. They are ready to participate in tripartite
cooperation we offer," the envoy said.
"As far as North Korea's attitude to gas pipeline laying across its
territory is concerned, Pyongyang does not object, though we have not come
yet to the issue today, as the gas pipeline construction has just started
from Khabarovsk toward the Primorsky Territory. But North Korea does not
object, since it is interested. There is economic advantage as well as in
the Trans-Korean railway construction issue," Ishayev noted.
"The economic interest pushes them to cooperation," he added.
