WAM to implement 'Digital News Archive' programme

Abu Dhabi, Aug 30, 2009 (WAM) - Emirates News Agency (WAM) has introduced a cutting edge technology for digitally archiving video imagery, using a specialized computer system. The move was made in line with the directives of H.E. Saqr Ghobash, Minister of Labour '&' Chairman of the National Media Council. It is also part of the efforts made by to realize goals of the strategic development plan, including atomization of all services within WAM. "The programme entails creation of a digital archive for news items films, currently saved in video tapes that could be lost or damaged," said Ahmed Najib, WAM's IT Manager.
