.Orthodox church to be consecrated in China.

MOSCOW, August 30 (Itar-Tass) - For the first time in the past few
decades an Orthodox church is going to be consecrated in China.
The Church of St. Innokentiy of Irkutsk in the city of Labdarin (the
Innner Mongolia Autonomous Region) will be sanctified on Sunday. It was
built in 1990. Eighteen Orthodox churches were destroyed in that region in
the years of 'cultural revolution' in China.
The church parishioners are descendants of the Russians who began to
inhabit this remote part of China late in the 19th century. The Church of
St. Innokentiy of Irkutsk belongs to the Chinese Autonomous Orthodox
Church. It's one of the four churches, which have an official status in
China.
Since the church doesn't have its own priest, the office of
consecration will be conducted by Father Mikhail from Shanghai. The Chita
and Trans-Baikal eparchies of the Russian Orthodox Church that cure for
this diocese by decision of the Holy Synod have donated an icon stand,
church utensils and liturgical vestments to the Church of St. Innokentiy
of Irkutsk.
Clerics of the Russian Orthodox Church will participate in the
dedication service.
