VLADIVOSTOK, September 4 (Itar-Tass) -- High-speed trains will be sent
from Primorye every day to carry fish to Siberia and central regions of
the country.
A train of 44 cars loaded with fish left Vladivostok on Friday for the
Urals.
Railway services have already brought more than 100 train sections to
the Far Eastern region and believe it will be enough to carry the whole
volume of fish, first deputy head of the Russian Railways company's
transport service centre Sergei Kolesnikov told a press conference in
Vladivostok on Friday.
Russian Railways with the direct participation of its subsidiary
Refservice and the DalRybPort company already in early August organised
fresh fish transportation by high-speed trains. Russian Railways has done
everything possible to give a green way for salmon from Primorye ports to
Siberia, the Urals and other regions, Kolesnikov noted.
"Higher-speed trains will run every day. We are ready to lead up to 80
cars according to schedule," he said.
Kolesnikov heads the Russian Railways working group in Vladivostok to
cope with the problem to transport salmon from the Far East, which this
year has record volumes of salmon, the largest quantity in 20 years. As a
result of the so productive season, dozens of thousands of tonnes of fish
are accumulated in Primorye ports. Up to 50,000 tonnes of fish are aboard
vessels near Vladivostok alone. It is 11 percent more than at the same
period of 2008.
