Krasnodar Territory to present over 1,300 investment projects at Sochi-2009
KRASNODAR, September 5 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia's southern Krasnodar
Territory will present over 1,300 investment projects worth more than 400
billion roubles at the VIII International Forum Sochi-2009 to be held on
September 17-20.
These will include 400 projects designed on a turnkey basis in
accordance with international standards and about 900 investment sites
with approved terms of connection to utility networks, the head of the
regional department of investment and project support, Alla Sinitsyna,
told Itar-Tass.
The Krasnodar Territory is ready to offer broad opportunities to
business virtually in all fields from agriculture to resorts and Olympic
projects, she said.
The region has chosen cluster presentation for this year's forum and
will present the biggest transport, logistical, industrial, resort, and
forestry investment proposals.
"A mega project, Olympic Sochi, will be presented at the forum. It
opens up unprecedented opportunities for investors and gives our
businessmen a unique chance not only to get involved in the Olympic
project as such, but also made good investments in resort facilities,"
Sinitsyna said.
One the projects to be presented at the forum concerns the development
of Russia's southernmost gambling zone called Azov City. Investing in the
project will allow businesses to take part in the creation of a new resort
and recreational region with highly profitable facilities, such as hotels,
restaurants, gambling clubs, casinos, sport and entertainment centres.
What makes the project unique is that its site is provided with all
the utilities and transport infrastructure. The Krasnodar Territory is the
first Russian region where such zones have to be created to have provided
Azov City with all the necessary utilities.
Municipalities will present projects to build the second freight area
at the Yeisk seaport worth over 20 billion roubles, the Labinsk storage
hydroelectric power station worth 18.6 billion roubles, and advanced grain
processing plants worth 6.5 billion roubles.
.Court bailiffs to be awarded for reporting attempts to bribe them.
MOSCOW, September 5 (Itar-Tass) -- The leadership of Russia's Federal
Service of Court Bailiffs (FSCB) has decided to award its employees who
have reported attempts to bribe them.
Since the beginning of the year, 14 such attempts have been
registered, the FSCB press service told Itar-Tass.
"The fourteenth attempt was made on August 27. Court Bailiff of the
Basmanny district branch of court bailiffs for Moscow, Ye. Fyodotova,
filed a petition to the department of anti-corruption measures, work with
personnel and security, in which she reported a debtor's intention to give
her an illegal cash award for permission to leave the country," the press
service said.
This information was immediately reported to the Moscow department for
combating economic crimes. On August 31, Mr. M.N. Gasymov was detained
while gibing a bribe to the court bailiff.
A previous such attempt was registered in the Volgograd region where a
person was detained while trying to give a bribe of 2,000 roubles for a
refusal to enforce a court order.
Attempts to bribe court bailiffs were also registered in August in
Taganrog, Rostov region, where an investigator was offered a bribe of
50,000 roubles for a refusal to open a criminal case. In the Krasnodar
Territory, a person was detained while trying to give a bribe of 2,000
roubles for stopping the enforcement of court order. In Volgograd, a court
bailiff was given 1,000 roubles for speeding up the lifting of an arrest
from a KamAZ truck. In the Leningrad region, a suspect was detained when
passing 5,000 roubles for accelerating debt collection.
"These facts indicate that a set of measures to fight and prevent
corruption offences that are systematically carried out by the FSCB gives
positive results," the press service said.
"This information is a warning to all citizens, including business
people, of the consequences in the form of prosecution of bribe-givers for
their desire to 'solve' their issues bypassing law," the press service
said.
.China plans to invest in Russia's transport systems -- minister.
BEIJING, September 5 (Itar-Tass) -- China's Ministry of Transport and
Ministry of Railways plan to ask the government to invest in Russia's
transport systems, Russian Transport Minister Igor Levitin said.
"We had talks and the two Chinese ministries agreed to ask the
government of China to provide investment support to our transport
facilities," the minister said after the 13th meeting of the
sub-commission on transport cooperation of the commission for the
preparation of regular meetings between the Russian and Chinese heads of
government.
According to Levitin, "This concerns mainly motor roads and high-speed
