Two people wounded in fire exchange in Abkhazia near border

SUKHUM, September 6 (Itar-Tass) -- Two people were wounded in an
exchange of fire in Abkhazia's Gal border area, district police department
head Laurens Kogonia told reporters.
The incident occurred at 21:00 Moscow time on Saturday. When
patrolling the village of Nizhny Bargyab, policemen saw three unidentified
armed persons. In an exchange of fire that broke out there, one Gal
policeman was heavily wounded, and one gunman was also wounded. The gunman
said his name was Ubilava Dato. The wounded men were taken to the district
hospital in the city of Gal. Two gunmen escaped. A police operation is
underway to find and detain them.
