Policeman and gunman wounded in Abkhazia Gal district die

SUKHUM, September 6 (Itar-Tass) -- A policeman and a member of an
armed group who were wounded in an exchange of fire in the Gal district,
Abkhazia, have died.
Policeman Ramaz Abukhba died without regaining consciousness in the
district hospital in the city of Gal.
Gunman Dato Ubilava was taken to a hospital in Sukhum where he died
later, Gal district police department head Laurens Kogonia told Itar-Tass.
Ubilava said before his death that he was a resident of the village of
Bargyab, the Gal district, and he and his two accomplices were going to
rob a local villager when they ran into the police patrol.
The incident took place in the village of Bargyab at 21:00 Moscow
time on September 5. A police operation is under way to detain the rest
members of the armed group.
