Youth forum advocates CIS humanitarian unity development

CHOLPON-ATA, Kyrgyzstan, September 6 (Itar-Tass) -- The youth of CIS
countries advocate development of CIS humanitarian unity. It was stated by
participants in the Issyk-Kul forum of young intellectuals "the CIS Youth
-- a Look at the Future" that was concluded here on Saturday.
About 150 young representatives of all the CIS countries and also
Georgia during three days at the forum that took place near picturesque
Lake Issyk-Kul discussed possibilities and ways to consolidate friendship
and common development.
Forum participants believe youth organisations in any country of the
commonwealth must support development of the image not only of their
state, but also all the other CIS countries. With this aim, it is
necessary to create a centre for the CIS youth on the basis of broadening
activity of the "Commonwealth of Student and Youth Organisations".
For development of exchanges in the area of culture, it was proposed
to hold festivals of youth creative work, short video films and sport
contests to be devoted to cultures of CIS countries and broadening of
youth tourism and for this prupose to introduce a youth card for young
people in CIS countries to have discounts and other benefits in traveling
across the CIS territory.
Forum delegates also proposed to form a single informational area in
the Internet for the CIS youth.
Participants in the forum spoke the Russian language. So, they believe
one of the main guidelines in their activities is consolidation of the
positions of Russian as the language of international contacts in the
territory of CIS countries.
The forum resolution underscored the importance of youth projects
relevant to Year of Science and Innovation in the CIS (2010), particularly
projects for exchanges and training in the sphere of science and education
for students, graduate students and young specialists.
The youth also expresses the wish to actively participate in projects
connected with preparations for celebration of the 65th anniversary of
Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
The forum held in honour of the memory of Chingiz Aitmatov was
organised within Youth Year in the CIS on the initiative of the Kyrgyz
Culture Ministry and with support from the Interstate Humanitarian
Cooperation Foundation of CIS countries.
Kyrgyz Minister of Culture and Information Sultan Rayev told Itar-Tass
such meetings of the youth would be held every year.
