Venezuelan president to arrive in Turkmenistan

ASHGABAT, September 6 (Itar-Tass) -- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez
on his world trip arrives in Turkmenistan on Sunday for the first official
visit.
Among leaders of Latin American states, he is the first to visit
Ashgabat.
The two-day visit is expected to mark the beginning of active
development of interstate relationship, the Turkmen presidential press
service said.
Turkmenistan and Venezuela established diplomatic relations on April
30, 1996. Both states favour development of constructive relations in the
bilateral format and in international organisations. Both have a great
potential and possibilities for equal cooperation in the widest range of
cooperation -- the social, economic, cultural, humanitarian, scientific
and educational spheres, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry noted.
