RF ambassador to Afghanistan notes spread of Taliban influence

MOSCOW, September 7 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia's ambassador to Afghanistan
Zamir Kabulov notes the broadening of the influence of the Taliban
movement in the country.
"The influence of the Taliban movement is broadening and has been
assuming the overwhelming character of late," the ambassador told the
Russian TV news channel Vesti on Monday. "This refers, first of all, to
the country's southern and eastern districts."
Kabulov deplored the fact that the relatively quiet districts until
recently, such as the east and northeast, "turn into a theatre of
operations."
