Bahraini Siamese twin leaves Riyadh en route home
Riyadh, September 09, SPA -- The surviving twin of a Bahraini Siamese
pair left Riyadh en route home today after having undergone a
successful separation surgery at the National Guard King Abdulaziz
Medical City at the expense of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques
King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
A cesarean section was performed in the end of last month for the
Siamese twins mother, followed by a five-hour-long operation to
separate them. Given the fact that it was impossible for one of them
to survive, doctors, led by Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabee'a,
who is also Minister of Health, decided to save the one with better
chances of life.
The twin's family expressed thanks to the Custodian of the Two Holy
Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Dr. Al-Rabee'a and
his medical team for the efforts they have exerted to save Zahra, the
name they have chosen for the surviving daughter.
