RF, Kazakhstan settle matters of joint use of Baikonur cosmodrome

MOSCOW, September 24 (Itar-Tass) - The twelfth meeting of the
committee on the Baikonur complex of the Russian-Kazakhstani
intergovernmental commission on cooperation ended in the city of Baikonur
on Thursday.
"We have settled all the matters of forming tariffs for services of
the housing and utilities complex, established a joint working group to
deal promptly with matters of energy supply for the entire Baikonur
complex and endorsed the provision to organize its work," Anatoly
Perminov, the head of the Federal Space Agency (Roskosmos), said after the
meeting.
In addition, the sides fully coordinated the provisions of the
agreement on medical services for the personnel of the Baikonur cosmodrome
and for residents of the city of Baikonur and of Akai and Tyuratam
settlements.
In order to improve the state of the environment, there will be a
joint plan to take inventory of places of unsanctioned dumping of waste
and of contaminated cites in the area of the Baikonur complex.
The sides have also "coordinated conceptual approaches to such an
important matter, as recognition and taking into account the improvement
by the Russian side of the facilities of the Baikonur complex Russia
rents, the matter that remained unsettled for years," Perminov said.
The participants in the meeting have not overlooked the interests of
the youth and the aged - "further joint efforts will be taken in questions
of general education in the city of Baikonur and of ensuring guarantees
for pension rights of the citizens (residing there)."
An important project of the two countries' cooperation in the space
area has not been forgotten, either. The head of Roskosmos said, "measures
to create the Baiterek space rocket complex at the Baikonur cosmodrome
will be actively implemented."
