Russia will not place Iskander rockets in Kaliningrad - Medvedev.
PITTSBURGH, September 26 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Dmitry
Medvedev has declared that Russia will not place its Iskander rocket
launchers in the westernmost exclave region of Kaliningrad.
As he addressed a news conference following his visit to the United
States for the UN General Assembly session and the G20 summit, Medvedev
recalled that he had declared plans for bringing Iskander rockets to
Kaliningrad as a countermeasure to US plans for creating a third missile
defense site in Europe.
"Now, that that decision has been canceled, I, naturally, will make a
decision against the deployment of Iskander rockets in the corresponding
region of our country," he said.
