Conf in Samara to deal with space rocket tech problems.

SAMARA, September 29 (Itar-Tass) - An all-Russia scientific and
technical conference, dedicated to the topical problems of space rocket technology and its role in sustainable socio-economic development of society, opens here on Tuesday.

Participants in the conference are to present about 150 reports on
matters concerning the designing and manufacture of booster rockets and
spacecraft, methods and means of remote sensing of the Earth, and space
navigation and communications systems.
Ways to raise the quality of the training of specialists for the
aerospace industry and the impact of the sector on the socio-economic
development of society is also among topical subjects of discussion.
An official at the Samara-based space rocket center CSKB-Progress has
told Itar-Tass that the conference is dedicated to the 50th jubilee of the
CSKB (central specialised design bureau) and the 90th anniversary of the
birth of Dmitry Kozlov, legendary designer of space equipment.
The honorary designer-general of the CSKB-Progress center died in
Samara on March 7, this year. For many years he headed this space rocket
center. Under his direction, the center monitored, from designer's point
of view, the serial production of R-7 space rockets, including the carrier
rocket Vostok that lofted Yuri Gagarin into space, and worked out
automatic spacecraft Fram, Resource-F1 and Resource-F2, as well as the
Bion spacecraft that proved the fundamental possiblity of a long stay of
human beings in outer space and made it possible to move on to bringing
into being long-duration space stations. A street, a square, and a space
museum in Samara have been named after the legendary designer.

.Moscow forum to feature innovations in education.

MOSCOW, September 29 (Itar-Tass) - The 11th all-Russia forum on the
theme of "Educational Environment-2009" opens here on Tuesday.
Innovative development products and promising orienations in the
development of the Russian system of education will be introduced at the
four-day forum, an official at the forum's organising committee has told
Itar-Tass.
The development products include a mobile rapidly-deployed educational
complex which makes it possible radically and within the shortest possible
time to solve the problem of ensuring the continuity of the instructional
process in the event of an overhaul of schools unfit for further use, or
elimination of the aftermath of emergencies.
Such a mobile complex will be particularly in demand in remote
sparsely-populated and difficult-of-access areas. Its distinguishing
feature is that it takes 20 days at most to put a fully equipped
educational building into use. Innovations-based technology makes it
possible to assemble and dismantle the building without upsetting its
operating characteristics.
The forum's exhibition area is 7,000 square metres. The forum is to
involve over 200 exhibitors from various constituent entities of the
Russian Federation, as well those from abroad. Over 20,000 specialists are
expected to take part in the forum.

.AtomTrans-2009 forum to open in St Petersburg Tuesday.

ST PETERSBURG, September 29 (Itar-Tass) - The 4th AtomTrans-2009
international nuclear forum opens here on Tuesday.
Vadim Titov, press secretary of the AtomTrans-2009, has told Itar-Tass
that key subjects of discussion at the forum include "efforst to ensure
safety in the transportation and use of radioactive materials, as well as
safety in the handling of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste".
Technologies, logistics and transport means used in the transportation
of radioactive materials will be demonstrated at the forum. Those present
will discuss various aspects of an esitmate of risk, emergency reaction to
and insurance of responsibility in the transportation of radioactive
materials. Matters concerning intermediate storage and final isolation of
radioactive waste will be an important component of the forum's programme.
The 9th Atomic Industry international exhibition at the LenExpo
exhibition center has been also planned within the forum's format.
Scientists and specialists are to tour nuclear power industry facilities
of Russia's North-West.
