Moscow welcomes positive signals from Pyongyang - Margelov.
MOSCOW, October 6 (Itar-Tass) - Pyongyang should allow international
monitors to its nuclear facilities and observe the rules of the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the head of the Federation
Council foreign affairs committee, Mikhail Margelov, told Itar-Tass on
Tuesday.
"After the UN General Assembly's session it became evident that it is
impossible for the North Korean authorities to further take a tougher
position on the nuclear dossier," he said. "Moscow welcomes positive
signals from Pyongyang. The question is what specifically will follow
them."
"There is also the question to what extent North Korean leader Kim
Jong-il is ready to open access of international experts to its nuclear
facilities. There is no need to reinvent the wheel, there are the rules
set by the IAEA. Then the world community will have no suspicion that
Pyongyang plays a double game," Margelov said.
