Russia`s Education Min to consider new rules for university

MOSCOW, October 7 (Itar-Tass) - Russia's Education and Science
Minister Andrei Fursenko is expected to chair on Wednesday a meeting of
the ministry's collegium, the top departmental advisory and
decision-making body, where new rules for enrollment to schools of higher
learning will be presented.
The changes will include restrictions on the number of colleges where
the aspirants can file enrollment applications simultaneously and the
number of phases for admittance of the enrolled, which will reduce to two
from the three phases, in which the process was held this year.
Adoption of changes in the enrollment rules follows the
recommendations that were issued last week at a conference of the Russian
Union of University Rectors where the participants made proposals on how
to optimize the existing system of university admittances.
One of the proposals the rectors /university presidents/ made was to
cut down to three the number of schools where the aspirants can apply
simultaneously.
They also recommended devising the technological procedures for
controlling the practical effectuation of this restriction.
