Lithuanian President going to Finland, Estonia

VILNIUS, October 7 (Itar-Tass) - Lithuania's President Dalia
Grygauskaite begins a two-day working visit to Finland and Lithuania
Wednesday to have meetings there with the two countries' top officials.
The presidential press service said regional cooperation, as well as
energy sector and security will be the highlights of Grybauskaite's talks.
As she talks to officials in Helsinki and Tallinn, the sides will look
at the forms of cooperation between the Northern and Baltic countries on
strategic regional projects capable of winning the European Union's
financial support.
Also, the sides will consider the ways of drawing more attention to
the region from the EU agencies and separate big European countries.
Grybauskaite hopes to discuss energy sector problems in both Finland
and Estonia, as it hopes to build a new nuclear power plant on its
territory together with other former Soviet Baltic republics and Poland by
2018.
In the light of it, Lithuania shows interest towards the Finnish
experience in the field of nuclear power production and development of
alternative sources of energy.
Estonia, which is a partner country in the N-plant project, will be
informed on its progress.
In Helsinki, Grybauskaite is expected to have talks with President
Tarja Halonen, Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen, and parliament speaker Sauli
Niinisto.
The list of her interlocutors in Tallinn includes President Toomas
Hendrik Ilves, Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, and parliament speaker Ene
Ergma.
